Floatchat- User Guid

Website Advanced

1. Launch Configurations #

Here is a list of configurations that are supported when launching the website chatbot in Floatchat:

1.1 Launch with a Delay #

You can add the following line to the script to launch your bot on your website with a delay that you configure:

setTimeout(function(){ chatWidget.launchBot(); }, 3 * 1000);

(Note: This will add a 3-second delay before launching the widget.)

1.2 Trigger a Path while launching Chatbot #

By default, the chatbot in Floatchat starts with the Welcome New User or Greet Returning User path. However, if you want the bot to start with a specific path, you can follow these steps:

1. i) Chatbot Widget invoked using Script #

Include the “launch_flow” parameter in the script with the desired path key. Here’s an example:

{bot_key:”DDDxxxKEY”, bot_name:”SampleBot”, launch_flow:”D8E2CC7E37F04FEB802F45E8F49E4598″, branding_key:”default”}

2. ii) Website Chatbot using Direct URL #

Add the “launch_flow=PATH_KEY” parameter to the direct URL. To obtain the path key, go to Build > Paths, select the specific path you want to trigger, click on “Edit Path,” and copy the path key from the modal box.

1.3 Set Attribute #

To pass dynamic or static data from your website to the bot, you can set attributes while launching the chatbot widget or as a direct URL.

1. Chatbot Widget invoked using Script #

You can set attributes directly in the script using the “user_attributes” parameter. Here’s an example:

Note: The attribute can be a new or existing attribute in the bot.

2. Website Chatbot using Direct URL #

When launching the bot through a direct URL, you can append optional parameters. The parameters you can pass include “&launch_flow=<Launch_Flow>” and “&data_attrs={key1=val1::key2=val2}”. For example:{name=John::surname=Paul}

The “launch_flow” parameter sets the bot to start on a particular flow, while the “data_attrs” parameter allows you to pass data attributes during bot launch.

3. Parameter to override Autopop on different web pages #

To override the autopop behavior on different web pages, use the ‘override_pop_up’ attribute when injecting the script into the webpage. By default, the behavior will follow the configuration set in the deploy section for the chatbot.
