WhatsApp setup using Kaleyra

#

1. Introduction #

Floatchat is an integration provided by Floatchat that allows businesses to use WhatsApp Messenger as a channel for their chatbot. With Floatchat, customers can leverage the power of Floatchat’s chatbot platform on WhatsApp, facilitating seamless communication and customer engagement.

2. Accessing the Setup #

2.1 To access the Floatchat setup, navigate to the Configure section in the Floatchat platform.

2.2 From there, go to Deployments and select WhatsApp as the desired channel.

2.3 Choose Kaleyra as the provider option for WhatsApp integration.

2.4 Update the following fields with the required information:

  • Phone Number
  • API key
  • SID
  • Client URL

3. Configuring Kaleyra #

3.1 Login to your Kaleyra account by visiting the link: https://hexa.kaleyra.io/login.

3.2 On the left navigation menu, click on the “Channels” tab.

3.3 Select the “Whatsapp manager” and go to the “Configurations” tab.

3.4 Copy the approved phone number from Kaleyra and paste it in the Phone Number field in Floatchat. Remember to include the country code without any spaces or “+” symbol.

3.5 Paste the URL provided by Floatchat into the corresponding URL section in Kaleyra.

3.6 In the Developer Section of your Kaleyra account, generate a new API key by clicking on the “Generate API Key” button.

3.7 Provide a name for the new API key and save it. Copy the generated API Key and SID, and paste them into the respective fields in Floatchat.

3.8 To create the Client URL, use the SID obtained from your Kaleyra account and insert it into the following URL: “https://api.kaleyra.io/v1/<SID>/messages”

3.9 Copy the resulting URL and paste it into the Client URL section in Floatchat.

3.10 Once all the details are entered, save the changes, and you are ready to test your chatbot on WhatsApp using your test numbers.

Floatchat, powered by Kaleyra, supports various media and document types as outlined below:

Please note that location service, file upload, and contact sharing are currently not supported by this integration.

4. Security Enhancement #

If you have integrated callback URLs to collect client information when using WhatsApp as a communication channel, we have implemented a security enhancement to ensure the safety of your data. This involves whitelisting the callback URLs from Kaleyra’s end.

4.1 Go to the settings option in the collapsible menu located in the user account section at the top-right corner.

4.2 Copy the link from the Floatchat Portal and paste it into the WhatsApp Callback URLs in Kaleyra.

4.3 On the page that appears, find and navigate to the “Settings” section, and paste the copied webhook into the designated area.

4.4 Save the changes to complete the process.

By following these steps, you can enhance the security of your data when using Floatchat on WhatsApp through Kaleyra’s integration.
