1. Introduction #

Floatchat is integrated with WeChat, a widely used communication channel with over 1 billion daily active users. With the integration, businesses can easily create and deploy chatbots on WeChat to engage with their audience.

1.1 Access to Setup #

1.1.1 To access the setup for WeChat on Floatchat, go to Configure > Deployment > WeChat.

2. Requirements #

To deploy your chatbot on WeChat, you need to have a WeChat official account. You can create an account of any type based on your requirements by visiting https://mp.weixin.qq.com/. For testing purposes, Floatchat provides a free sandbox account that you can use. Test it by following this link.

3. Steps to configure WeChat as a Channel #

Log in to your WeChat account and copy the AppID and AppSecret generated for your account.

3.1 AppID and AppSecret #

  • Log in to your WeChat account and copy the AppID and AppSecret generated for your account.

    [Note: Be mindful of Google Translate, as it might convert the first character of AppID and AppSecret to uppercase. Use lowercase instead.]

    Go to the Configure > Deployment > WeChat section in the Floatchat portal and paste the AppID and AppSecret in the provided fields. Click SAVE. 

3.2 Webhook and WeChat token #

  • Copy the webhook URL and WeChat token from the Deploy section on the Floatchat portal and paste them in the Endpoint URL and token fields, respectively, on the WeChat account page.

    Save the credentials. Your Floatchat bot is now ready to be used on WeChat.

3.3 Testing #

You can test the Floatchat chatbot by scanning the QR code in the sandbox account using the WeChat code scanner in the app.

4. Key Notes #

Here are some important points to remember when deploying your chatbot on WeChat using Floatchat.

4.1 Audio and video files will be shared as clickable links.

4.2 WeChat does not provide an option to display clickable buttons. Therefore, the following features of Floatchat may not function as expected:

– “Send Message with Options”: Clickable button options cannot be sent by the bot.

– “Send Carousel”: Carousels will be displayed as tiles without any buttons to choose from. Only URLs can be included with a carousel.
